When you are in the moment, you are in the infinite.

I believe that to create a peaceful and happy world, we start with creating our own peace and happiness through awareness. Meditation is the single best practice that I have found to achieve that. I became a meditation teacher because I want to help you find this peace for yourself.

As your teacher, I have:

  • A dedicated personal meditation practice, one that is a significant part of my day, every day;

  • A deep knowledge of the mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual science-based benefits of meditation;

  • Experience in the tangible benefits of meditation in my own life and the ability to articulate them;

  • A grounded, yet light-hearted approach to life and meditation;

  • Respect for other people’s personal beliefs and credo, no matter how different they may be from my own;

  • Respect for nature and the world around me;

  • And a passion for meditation and for sharing the many benefits of the practice for the evolution of the individual and for all of humanity.

I am a dedicated meditator and a McLean Meditation Institute certified meditation & mindfulness instructor. I have been a seeker and have been drawn to understanding the spiritual side of humanity since I was a little girl, when I used to spend hours sitting on the floor reading from the bookshelves full of esoterica of a family friend while the adults talked in the other room.

I have been in the healing arts for most of my working life...25 years as a massage and bodywork therapist trained in more modalities than I can count throughout the years. This work, combined with my meditation practice has taught me the importance of embodied presence and the healing and wisdom that can arise through daily meditation practice. I decided to embark on an intense study of meditation when I turned fifty, primarily with Bhante Henepola Gunaratana and the other monastics at Bhavana Society in West Virginia. My time spent with Bhante G, one of the foremost teachers of mindfulness and Buddhist meditation in the world has been a priceless gem. I continue to read and re-read his writings and spend time on retreat when I can, and consider his guidance the cornerstone of my practice and of my own subsequent teaching. In 2016, I decided to follow the teacher's path with Sarah McLean and enrolled at the McLean Meditation Institute in Sedona, AZ for a year of intense study and self-transformation that culminated in becoming a McLean Meditation Institute certified meditation and mindfulness instructor. I am now following my heart's desire of introducing others to the richness that a meditation practice can bring to their lives.

I believe in honoring my teachers and bow deeply to them all.

Most importantly, I believe that we have the opportunity to evolve the consciousness of the human race. Deep down in our gut, we all know that there is something better for us...that it's lying there just beneath the surface. This is true on an individual, personal level and on the collective level. My heart's desire is to provide a path anchored in ancient wisdom and modern neuroscience to help guide us to that place of living together in peace and possibility. I look forward to introducing you to the why and how of meditation and to helping you develop a practice of your own that can change your life and change the world. Thank you for taking this step. We'll have fun!

Together we can hasten the evolution.

"Like most people, I struggle to quiet the endless chatter in my brain. Attempting to establish a regular practice of mindfulness and meditation has not been easy. But, starting each new day in silence, following my breath and feeling gratitude for the love and goodness in my life, enriches me and everyone I meet. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to sit and practice with Denise Lyon.
It's a beautiful new day. Let the creativity begin!!"

"I joined a meditation and mindfulness group with Denise and about eight others for a ten week study of various way to get in touch with deeper feeling, motivation, expectations, etc. The experience was educational, fun, thought provoking, and the results have had a lasting impact on me and I suspect others as well. Denise is a very welcoming and knowledgeable teacher/person who asked good and deep questions and made keen observations as each of us in this class shared part of our life journey together and perhaps came to understand better the life journey of those in our class and yep, the rest of humanity too. What better than to understand ourselves and others at a deeper level."
