Aerial Yoga uses breath, guided movement and the aerial hammock to provide a safe environment for each student to explore restorative postures. As with all restorative classes we take time to slowdown spending 3-5 minutes or longer in postures, to allow the body to fully release. We use the basic principles of our yoga postures to create similar shapes and stretches, all supported by the yoga hammock.
We start by lowering the hammock within a few inches of the floor and use it to create deep stretches, as we lay on the floor. We will also use the hammock for some relaxation and sit in the cocoon for a guided meditation.
If you practice yoga regularly many of the poses will feel familiar and the hammock will bring you a new awareness for your practice. All experience level are welcome!
We are offering these classes at a time when life can feel chaotic and overwhelming with the holiday approaching. This class can help you recenter and gain perspective for the body and mind! Many of us hold tension in certain areas of the body like the hips or shoulders. In our classes we try to find space and opening without pushing, we try to create a connection with our bodies and increase our awareness. This type of restoration of the body can boost the immune system and quiet the nervous system. A restorative aerial yoga class can allow a calming environment to center yourself before heading back out into world of chaos
Mindfulness at The Magic Tree Sanctuary

The Magic Tree Sanctuary is a special place in Meadows of Dan, Virginia just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Spend a day of rest and relaxation with me under the tree canopy while we learn the basics of mindfulness meditation and mindful living and learn to incorporate them into our daily life. We'll have plenty of time to explore your questions about meditation, learn the how and why of meditation and best of all...we'll meditate in the forest! Mindfulness Fundamentals for Teachers
In this two-hour morning class with your fellow teachers, learn how mindfulness meditation can become a tool that will help you develop a new relationship to the challenges of teaching. You will learn the basics of a practice that you can take with you anywhere to find your center point of peace, allowing you to be more present with the beautiful souls whose lives you are molding.

Meditation & Mindfulness 1.0 - at Art of Living Retreat Center, Boone NC
Join me for a weekend retreat in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains!
Have you been thinking there’s just no way that you can meditate? Is going to a retreat a little out of your comfort zone? This retreat is an introduction to meditation and mindfulness for those who are new to the retreat experience or who would like to jumpstart their practice.
The retreat will be facilitated by certified Meditation and Mindfulness instructor, Denise Lyon. Denise remembers all too well the challenges of developing a practice and being new to the retreat experience. In this grounded, light-hearted and heart-centered approach, Denise will lead you in the fundamentals of meditation combined with experience of several different approaches including gratitude and walking meditations. You will discover the profound benefits of mindful living practices and gain the confidence to develop a daily meditation practice as you begin to live a life of presence.
You will return home with a solid knowledge of how to meditate and accompanying material to support you, plus you’ll be equipped to bring the practice of mindfulness into your daily life for more joy and peace.
